Anonymous asked: First off, I have to say that your blog inspired me to take the finally step into wearing lolita and now I have a growing collection of lovely clothes~ :D Thank you so much~ But now I'd like to ask Your High Duchess of Frills for advice. I'm building my wardrove mostly around classic lolita and most of my clothes so far are nice sober colors or classy flower prints but I was wondering, is there a way to incorporate pastels or lighter colors without looking too sweet? Thank you in advance~
High Duchess of Frills. I really like that one. =D And you’re welcome! I love hearing that I’ve inspired people to get started!
Anyway, there are definitely ways to get pastels and lighter colors in Classic Lolita. They’re fairly common actually. Usually you’ll see them incorporated in a way that they’re pastel but they’re more muted than what you see in Sweet. Like you’ll have a dusty pink or a slightly darker lavender or you’ll have a pastel color put with ivory for a more antique look rather than stark white. Other times you’ll just have a pastel color done in a style that is undeniably Classic.
